Be water, my friend.
Daihachi loved Bruce Lee so much. He would imitate the martial arts hero ever since he was a little kid and I thought it was just silly and for laughs. But as I’ve lost Daihachi, I think about Bruce Lee and what he meant for Daihachi. A strong, Asian male who not only smashed obstacles but also commanded the attention of movie goers worldwide.
“Empty your mind. Be formless. Shapeless, like water. You put water into a cup, it becomes the cup. You put water into a bottle, it becomes the bottle. You put it in a teapot, it becomes the teapot. Now water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend.”
That famous Bruce Lee quote has so many layers. Adaptability, conformity, mindfulness, resilience, calmness, and power. My tears also have layers and I hope to share the feelings and meaning behind those salty water tears here.
Love you, my little Bruce Lee.
